The Gingertennial

This year is the 100th anniversary of the birth of one Ginger Rogers....so, every month this year I'm going to try to put up an unusual pic of Ginger, and I'll try to find something special for her birthday itself.

Yes, Pink Ginger, I just saw this film recently....It's a hoot, especially Ginger. It's a 'girls school' story with the leads being somewhat stiff, but Ginger is the hellraising friend, getting girls booze, and arranging for a night on the town in NYC...

Two good lines both from Ginger:

The school tries to hook them up with some wimpy fellas and Ginger remarks "between the lot of them they haven't got enough chest hair to put a wig on a grape!"

When a "young" girl asks Ginger for a bra, she loans it skeptically, and when the girl leaves she remarks to the others that "it's like putting a saddle on a Pekingese!"

Yes, Ginger is QUITE the 'Sassy' one in this film, in a supporting role... but it works ok... I've honestly only watched it once - I think I have the VHS of it, believe it or not... I DO remember Frances Dee's mom was played to great effect by Billie Burke - who ultimately would become Glinda, the Good Witch of the...East or West... I'm far from an 'Oz' buff...I'm one of the ones who are a bit 'unnerved' by the whole Oz scene... but it is a classic, no doubt.
